Volleyball is a lot of fun to have with your family indoors and outdoors whether you want to put on some sunscreen. And go out onto the beach or just go out into you backyard and have some fun. For those people that don’t know about volleyball it is Olympic team sport, with two team of six players separated by a high net trying to ground the ball on the other side of the net with rules that you have to learn and obey. Indoor volleyball and outdoor volleyball are not too similar. There is a difference in rules, equipment. Over the years volleyball has developed techniques with spiking, bumping, and setting, not necessarily in that order. With indoor you have different equipment such as kneepads, elbow pads, mouth piece, and shoes. But with outdoor you do not necessarily were shoes. Outdoor volleyball, most people know it as beach volleyball it is vary commonly playedwith the community.As you can see in this picture they are not wearing any of the things people were when playing indoor because there is no need for pads because the sand on a beach is not as hard as the gym floor inside a building. The starting of Olympic volleyball The game volleyball originally called “Mintonette", was invented in1895 by William G. Morgan, after the invention of basketball by only 4 years. Morgan, a graduate of the Springfield College of the YMCA, designed the game to be a combination of basketball, baseball, tennis and handball. And the first volleyball net was tennis net only 6’6’’ high, I know that sound and looks short but the people today are ten times bigger than in the 19th century.
The offensive style of setting and spiking was first demonstrated in the Philippines in 1916. Over the years that followed, it become clear that standard rules were needed for tournament play, and then the USVBA [United States Volleyball Association] was formed in 1928. During the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, American men and women took gold and silver medals in indoor volleyball competition. Four years later at the Olympics in Korea, the men once again scored gold. Starting in 1996, 2-man beach volleyball was officially introduced to the Olympics. Today, there are more than 800 million volleyball players worldwide, 46 million of them in the U.S.
